It’s hard to believe that the season is winding down already. It has been an amazing Spring of flag football, and it culminates with the final games this Sunday at Jeffrey St Park. Senior Division championships begin at 9:30 a.m. (kickoff at 10) and feature the following games: Cougars v. Cheetahs (field 1) Bobcats v. Tigers (field 2) Leopards v. The first games of the season played in the great outdoors were action-packed in both the Junior and Senior divisions. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the players showed off a ton of speed and football talent under blue skies at Jeffrey St Park. Week 4 action kicks off Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. with the Senior Division practice and games. The juniors take the field at 11:30 a.m. Go Lions!
We have received positive news from the Town that outdoor fields will be available for use this coming Sunday. This means that the football action resumes this Sunday, May 25th at Jeffrey St Park in Whitby. Check the schedule page for full details. Go Lions!
Due to poor field conditions, the Town of Whitby will not be allowing access to outdoor fields this week. This means that all WLFC practice/scrimmage activity scheduled for this Sunday, May 18th, will be cancelled until further notice. For up-to-date field conditions, please check the ‘Field Status’ page of our website, located here. The Whitby Lions Football Club apologizes for this cancellation and will work to ensure that games resume as scheduled on Sunday, May 25th.
The great spring weather has been wonderful to see, and here’s hoping it continues as the Lions move outdoors starting this Sunday, May 18th. The Whitby Lions kicked off their Spring season last week with the club’s annual ‘combine’ — providing players with the opportunity to work through a number of skills development stations and focus on the fundamentals of passing, receiving, route running, defense and flag pulling. The day will feature a series of skill development sessions that will serve as the foundation for player development and team formation for the new season.
